Full moon
Every 29.5 days the Moon stands exactly opposite the Sun — that is a full moon. Astrologically it reads as the moment something becomes visible: whatever has been growing since the new moon now shows itself, for better or for more uncomfortable.

Why the full moon reads as a peak
At a full moon the Sun and Moon stand opposite each other — and in astrology the opposition is the angle of tension between two poles. So the full moon does not read as a "good" or "bad" time but as the phase where a contrast can no longer be ignored: work and home, wanting and needing, you and everyone else.
Which sign it lands in — and why that matters
Every full moon falls in a zodiac sign, and the sign gives it its theme. A full moon in Cancer touches family and home; one in Capricorn touches work and responsibility. If it lands near a point in your own chart you feel it more sharply than others do — which is why most full moons pass unnoticed and one a year feels like a turning point.

How often is there a full moon? 13 in 2026
From one full moon to the next takes 29.5 days on average — one synodic month. That is a little shorter than a calendar month, so most years hold twelve full moons and some hold thirteen. 2026 has 13.
When a second full moon falls in the same calendar month it is popularly called a blue moon. In 2026 that happens on May 31, 2026.
Full moons and zodiac signs: reading the table
A full moon always sits in the sign opposite the Sun. When the Sun moves through Libra in October, the full moon lands in Aries; in spring, with the Sun in Aries, it lands in Libra. That is why the full moon passes through all twelve signs once a year.
The degree in the last column is the exact point within the sign, from 0° to 29°. If a planet in your birth chart sits near that degree, that is the full moon you are most likely to notice this year. Your birth chart shows which degrees those are for you. More on the next full moon's sign in the Taurus sign profile.
What you can check on a full moon evening
No rules, just observations you can test yourself:
- Whether you sleep differently on the night around the full moon. Note it three times in a row and you will know for yourself.
- Which theme is louder that day — in the call with your mother, in the message you read twice before replying.
- What has grown since the last new moon. Those dates are under next new moon.

Full moon — common questions
- When is the next full moon?
- The next full moon is on October 26, 2026 at 05:12 (CET, Berlin time) in Taurus.
- How many full moons are there in 2026?
- 2026 has 13 full moons; the one on May 31, 2026 is the second in its calendar month, a so-called blue moon.
- Why is the full moon in a different sign from the Sun?
- At a full moon the Sun and Moon stand exactly opposite each other, 180 degrees apart. So the Moon always sits in the sign opposite the Sun — Sun in Scorpio, full moon in Taurus.
- What does a full moon mean in astrology?
- It reads as the peak of the lunar cycle: whatever has grown since the new moon becomes visible. The sign of the full moon sets the theme. Whether that holds for you is something your own notes can show.
- How exact are the times?
- Every date is computed with the Swiss Ephemeris to the minute and shown in Central European time (CET or CEST); the Universal Time is on each date’s own page.
The current planetary positions show where every planet is right now. How a date lands in your own chart is what the personal daily horoscope shows — built on your birth chart. The opposite pole is under next new moon.
