What is Black Moon Lilith?

Lilith isn’t a planet or an asteroid — she’s a calculated point, the empty focus of the Moon’s orbit (which is why she’s called Black Moon Lilith). In your chart she marks your wild, untamed side: the raw, instinctive power you were often taught to hide or apologise for.

Lilith sign by birth date

We calculate mean Black Moon Lilith: the point of the Moon's orbit farthest from the Earth, averaged over the orbit's small wobbles. It moves forward at an even pace, takes just under nine years to circle the zodiac and stays about nine months in each sign. There is also the "true" or osculating Lilith, which wobbles more and sometimes moves backwards — near a sign boundary it can give a different result. Many books and programs use mean Lilith; if your result differs from another source, that is usually why.

What is Lilith in astrology?
Lilith (or Black Moon Lilith) is not a planet but the empty focus of the Moon's orbit — the point in space where the Moon is farthest from Earth (apogee). Astrologically she represents the suppressed feminine power, the "forbidden" in us, sovereignty — everything we split off as "too wild", "too angry" or "too sexual". She is the shadow that wants to be reintegrated.

What if I do not know my birth time?
You can skip the time. Lilith by sign still gets calculated because Lilith stays in each sign for about nine months — even a rough estimate hits the right sign. What does not work without a time: the exact house, since houses depend on the moment of day and the place.
Which Lilith do you calculate — mean or true?
Both. The mean Black Moon Lilith (standard in modern astrology software) and the true / osculating Lilith. Most astrologers read with the mean Lilith, but the true Lilith reveals a second, more intimate layer — we show both and let you choose what speaks to you.

What is the difference between Lilith and Chiron or the lunar nodes?
All three are "background" points in the chart, but they show different themes: Chiron is the wound that can be healed, the lunar nodes show the soul's direction of growth, Lilith is the suppressed power that wants to be reclaimed. They complement each other — many people read all three together for a fuller picture.
