Last Quarter
Focus on your question and draw all 4 cards.
4 cards to go.
Four cards for your release
The last quarter moon is the quiet part of the lunar cycle. The full moon has passed, the harvest is celebrated, and now the work is letting go of what no longer carries. This four-card spread gives that moment form: acceptance of what was, forgiveness of what hurt, an action recommendation for the closing days of the cycle, and the lesson you take into the next one. It is the gentlest moon spread — and at the same time the most honest, because letting go is often harder than starting.
What the spread really does
The last-quarter spread is built as release work. Card 1 (Acceptance) shows what you can accept in this cycle — something that happened that you have not yet fully taken in. Card 2 (Forgiveness) shows what needs forgiving — either toward yourself or toward another person. Card 3 (Action recommendation) shows what to do concretely in the cycle's final days — usually a quiet, clear act, not a grand gesture. Card 4 (Lesson) shows what you take with you into the next lunar cycle — the inner answer you learned this time.
When this spread fits
The last-quarter spread fits when:
- you are at the end of a lunar cycle and want to close gently
- you have something to release that still weighs on you
- you want to forgive yourself or another person
- you want to enter the next new moon prepared
- you want a quiet, reflective reading without big action
How to actually read the four cards
Read the spread as a sequence, each card building on the previous. Card 1 (acceptance) first: what does this card show that you have not yet fully accepted? Acceptance is not approval — it is the honest "yes, it was like that". Card 2 (forgiveness) follows: of whom? yourself? another person? both? The card tells you where the forgiveness actually points. Card 3 (action recommendation) is the most concrete — what to do in the cycle's last 7 days. Often it is something small: a conversation, a note, a ritual. Read card 4 (lesson) last, after letting the other three settle. It carries into the next cycle — write it down, read it again at the next new moon.

| 4 | Lesson | What lesson do I need to learn? What else do I need to learn to manifest my intention? | bottom right |

Last quarter — frequently asked questions
- What if I do not have anything concrete to accept?
- Then the card is showing something more subtle — a mood, an experience, a sense of standstill. Do not read it too concretely. Sometimes what needs acceptance is not an event but a phase.
- What if the forgiveness card refers to someone who hurt me?
- Forgiveness does not mean letting them back in. It only means releasing the energy of the wound — the other person does not even need to know. Forgiveness is an act for yourself, not for the other side.
- When is the best time for this reading?
- On the day of the last quarter, or within three days after. You have about a week until the next new moon — enough time to act on the recommendation.
- How does this connect with the new-moon spread?
- Directly. What you release here makes room for what you plant at the next new moon. Four spreads per cycle — new moon, first quarter, full moon, last quarter — give you a complete moon practice.
