Which zodiac signs match? How the comparison works
The zodiac sign comparison needs no birth data, just two signs. It looks at four things: the element (fire, earth, air, water), the modality (cardinal, fixed, mutable), the polarity and the distance between the two signs on the zodiac. The result is a score between 35 and 98. Matching elements score highest, fire with air and earth with water follow close behind.

Zodiac compatibility — frequently asked questions
- Which zodiac signs are most compatible?
- As a rule of thumb, signs of the same element harmonise (say, Leo and Aries), and the complementary pairs fire–air and earth–water get along well. But that is only the Sun level. Moon, Venus and Rising can overturn any rule of thumb — in both directions.
- Which zodiac signs don’t match?
- Astrology has no "don’t match" — only combinations with more translation work. Fire–water and air–earth count as demanding because the temperaments run differently. Yet exactly these pairs often report the strongest attraction.
- How seriously should I take a sun-sign match?
- As a quick check: quite — element and modality describe real temperament differences you will recognise in relationships. As a verdict on a specific relationship: no. That takes the whole chart, calculated from the date of birth, ideally with a time.
- Why do the same two signs always get the same score here?
- Because the score is calculated, not rolled: element relation, modality and how the signs sit relative to each other produce a fixed number. More honest than a random generator — and the read explains the derivation.
