What is a solar return?

Every year, around your birthday, the Sun returns to the exact point it held at your birth. The chart for that precise moment is your solar return — your astrological year-ahead chart. It holds from birthday to birthday and describes the colouring of your new personal year: how it feels, loves, works and wants to grow.

When does my solar year start and end?

From the moment of the Sun’s return until the next one — one year, birthday to birthday. The book gives you the exact moment to the minute and prints the validity (“valid from … to …”) right on the opening pages.

What if I don’t know my birth time?

No problem — we calculate at noon. The exact solar moment can shift by a few hours and we honestly leave out the houses chapter (the year’s Ascendant). Every planet chapter and your transit dates stay just as personal.

Birth place or current home — which counts for the houses?

The houses of a solar return depend on where you spend the moment of the Sun’s return — classically one uses the current place of residence. We calculate with your birth city and say so openly in the book. The year’s planet signs are independent of location — they hold anywhere in the world.

Is the book a good birthday gift?

Perfect, actually — it is literally the book of the new year of their life. All you need is the recipient’s name and date of birth; add birth time and place and the chapter on the year’s Ascendant comes with it. As a PDF it is ready in a minute — even on the morning of the birthday.
